Funded by First 5 LA, TCC is one of the many partners of the Choose Health LA Kids Early Childhood Obesity Prevention Initiative, a four year program dedicated to bringing together partnering organizations to implement community-based public education, skills-building and environmental changes that promote physical activity and healthy eating. Choose Health LA Kids is a grant that specifically targets the nearly one million LA County children (0-5 years of age) and their families and aims to reduce the prevalence of overweight and obesity among young children and their families.
The initiative empowers families to combat chronic disease in three ways: 1) increasing parents' knowledge of healthy eating and active living; 2) improving the diets of young children in child care settings; 3) helping mothers of young children to achieve a healthy body weight.
