THE CHILDREN’S CLINIC HISTORY | |||||||||||||||||||||
The Children’s Clinic, Serving Children and Their Families (TCC) is an independent non-profit 501(c)(3) system of licensed community health centers dedicated to providing comprehensive health care in a culturally sensitive and linguistically appropriate manner to ethnically diverse, low-income populations of all life cycles in the Southern California area. The Children’s Clinic was founded by a group of physicians and community leaders in 1939 who recognized the importance of access to health care for all children, particularly those who are from low income families, and are therefore, at risk for health problems. The Clinic has grown from offering weekly well-child care to a daily, full service health care facility with primary care services offered to children, adolescents and adults. TCC is known as a unique leader in the greater Long Beach community, providing care for the underserved of all ages and improving the health and well-being while addressing disparities in health by offering them a true “medical home”.
The Clinic is a true medical home for greater Long Beach and the surrounding communities. Those services include:
To utilize Clinic services, a family’s income must not be greater than 200% of the established poverty level. Families are asked to donate for their care, yet no one is turned away due to an inability to pay. All of our families have one thing in common – they cannot afford private medical care for their children. |
