NOTICE OF RACE

RULES

The regatta will be governed by the current Racing Rules of Sailing; the prescriptions of the US Sailing Association; PHRF; the rules of the classes sailing; the sailing instructions of the host clubs; the Notice of Regatta and any addendum which may be published.

ELIGIBILITY and ENTRY

Yacht Club membership is NOT required. Three (3) entries are required to establish a class. This race is included in the schedule of events for the 1999 Area C PHRF High Point Championship. The regatta is open to all yachts listed below and any additional class which may be formed.

LBYC One Design Ocean Classes: Cat 38; Cat 37; SAN 35; SAN 30130; Cat 30; Cat 27; Cat 25; CAL 25; J/24; Melges 24; Etchells; CAL 20, Capri 25
LSF Cruising Class
SIBYC PHRF with Spinnaker: ‘A! 135 and below; ‘B’, 138-174; ‘C’, 177 and above.

PHRF without Spinnaker: ‘A!, 192 and below; ‘B’, 195 and above.

SYC Cruiser Navigation: Any size power boat.

 

TAX DEDUCTIBLE DONATION

Bay class juniors – $5; 

Bay class seniors – $15;

Ocean class keelboats, ORCA, Cruising Class, and PHRF – $25;

Cruiser Navigation – $25.

REGATTA SCHEDULE

 

Bay Classes: Three races. First Warning at 1150.
ORCA: One race. First Warning at 1150.
All Ocean Classes: One race. First Warning 1150.
Predicted Log Race: One race. Finish at 1100.

 

ADVANCED REGISTRATION

Yachts are urged to register in advance by completing the enclosed registration form and mailing it, together with the appropriate donation, directly to the yacht club that will be hosting the class:

SAILING INSTRUCTIONS

The sailing instructions for all classes will be available after September 17, 1999 at Alamitos Bay Y.C., Little Ships Fleet, Long Beach Y.C., Seal Beach Y.C., and Shoreline Y.C.

SCORING

The Low-Point Scoring system, Rule A2 of the racing rules, will apply.

ALTERNATE PENALTIES

The 360 turn penalty, Rule 44.2 of the racing rules, will apply.

PROTEST ARBITRATION

There will be an arbitration hearing prior to any protest hearing.

SKIPPERS’ MEETING

PERPETUAL TROPHIES

Kelly Daniel Ting (Winner largest class); All Female Crew; Family Crew (3 or more); John Kemp Memorial Log Race; Betty Newton Memorial (Sr. Sabots); Yacht club racing participation.

TROPHIES

Trophies will be presented at Little Ships Fleet during the Burger Bash. Trophies will be awarded according to the following schedule: 3 entries – 1 trophy, 5 – 2, 9 – 3, 12 – 4, 15+ – 5.

At Little Ships Fleet following the race, regardless of the racing venue. Meals freshly prepared on site by In-N-Out Burgers. See map for location.
